Jeju Island Guide for Solo Travelers & Small Groups
As one of the most popular holiday destinations in Asia, Jeju welcomes various types of travelers. From vacationing groups to families looking for a change in scenery, many people fly to the island to get a taste of Korea’s very own Hawaii. But while the idea of exploring Jeju-do never fails to excite, some solo travelers and pairs of friends may also have some hesitations. For some foreigners that I talked to, they thought that they may have a hard time communicating since Jeju dialect or satoori is quite different from the rest. There’s also some transportation concerns since the means of transportation in Jeju is limited, which can make getting to all attractions a bit difficult.
But while these two things can be a cause of worry for some, taking a trip to Jeju as a solo traveler or a couple is possible and, yes, exciting! I personally think you won’t be concerned about these things once you’re in the island, but to help you plan your Jeju itinerary, here are some tips:
1. Join the Jeju Island Pink Tour Bus 🚌
A quick Google search on the best spots to visit in Jeju Island will return attractions such as Soesokkak Estuary, Jeongbang Waterfalls, Camellia Hill, Handam Coastal Walk, and Saebyeol Oreum. Running an image search on each one will instantly make you want to visit all of them, but wait until you map them out! The best tourist spots in Jeju are quite distant from each other, and you may find it cumbersome and expensive to visit them by public transportation.

2. Book natured-themed activities 🌱
With stunning beaches, lush forests, and beautiful mountains, Jeju is really all about nature. If you want to see the naturescapes and engage in worthwhile activities, you can do both at the same time by adding the following in your Jeju itinerary:
- Eco Land
- Maze Land
- Jeju Rail Bike
- Zipline Adventure
- Four-season sledding
- Horseback Riding (Double Trekking Course)

3. Visit Jeju Shinhwa Water Park 💆♂️💆♀️
Aside from being one of my favorite spots, I always recommend Shinhwa World’s Water Park because it’s the perfect place to relax after a tiring day of touring. They have an indoor and outdoor pool, which feature water jets that target the back muscles. They also have a state-of-the-art sauna and steam rooms that help get rid of the fatigue. Oh, and the view from the garden pool is really beautiful at night, so make sure to visit!
Admission to Jeju Shinhwa Water Park costs ₩19,000-45,000 or $16-38 (varies per season), but you can book on WAUG below for only ₩7,500-43,900 or $6-37!
