You’ll Love This Nami Island & Petite France Day Tour

I recently went to Nami Island and Petite France to enjoy the fall foliage of 2020. Before anything else, if you happen to be in Korea right now, I want to encourage you to visit and not miss the autumn sceneries in these attractions. My photos below may not quite show it (taken on October 27th), but both sites are really mesmerizing! Of course, if you’ve stumbled upon this guide at a later time and are planning to visit, then keep reading. In the next sections of this blog, I’ll share my experience of getting to these attractions as well as some useful tips that I learned from the tour operator!

Nami Island & Petite France: Day Tour vs. DIY Trip

Let’s start with the most commonly-asked question: should I join a shuttle bus tour or get there on my own? The best answer, of course, is what’s best for you, taking into account your itinerary, goals, and budget. As for me (solo traveler), I chose to take this shuttle bus from Seoul. It’s really convenient because all I had to do was select a pick-up point (Hongdae, Myeongdong, or Dongdaemun), and it took me to the attractions easily. I didn’t have to take the train to Gapyeong Station, ride a bus or cab from Gapyeong to Nami Island, ride another bus or cab to get to Petite France, and do it all over again in reverse to return to Seoul.

But aside from convenience, I also found the Nami Island and Petite France shuttle bus really comfortable. Touring got me exhausted, so it was good to be able to sleep comfortably in the van. I don’t think I could get the same quality of shut-eye if I were in a public vehicle.

As per the costs involved, the Nami Island and Petite France shuttle bus tour costs ₩38,000 or $35 per head if you book it here. It’s inclusive of transportation as well as admission to Nami Island (worth ₩13,000 or $11.5 per ticket) and Petite France (₩10,000 or $8.5 each ticket). If you’re considering to use public transportation, expect to shell out ₩8,800-40,500 or $7.7-31 per person. You can limit your expenses below ₩10,000 as long as you don’t take the cab from Namiseom to Petite France, which costs around ₩17,500 one way.

My Nami Island & Petite France Day Tour Experience

I shared a lengthy review of my trip to Nami Island and Petite France here (posted on 2020-10-28), and if you haven’t read it yet, here’s a summary: Due to COVID-19, I was the only one who participated in the tour. The operator did not cancel my booking, and it felt like Jones, the guide, gave me the amount of attention, care, and energy that he would give if there were 50+ people who joined. (Disclaimer: while I work in WAUG, this is not a sponsored trip. I used my personal time off for this.)

Anyway, here are some pointers that may help you plan:

  • This is a semi-guided tour. The guide will share information so you can appreciate and enjoy both Nami Island and Petite France. He will do so before you enter each attraction, but he won’t be with you as you explore. You are free to make use of your time as you wish.
  • Admission included. Entrance tickets to both Nami Island and Petite France are included in the rates!
  • You get 4 hours in Nami Island and 2 hours in Petite France. I was able to cover the entire Nami Island in less than 3 hours and had lunch/rest for 1 hour. Petite France, on the other hand, can be explored fully in 1.5 hours. If you want to see a marionette show like I did, add in extra 15 minutes.
  • This is a roundtrip transfer. You’ll be picked up and dropped off in Seoul.
