WAUG is a leading activity booking platform based out of Seoul, South Korea. With hundreds of destinations and thousands of bookable activities, many travelers from around the world use WAUG to explore their home city and overseas.
Today, we sat down with a member of our business team who brings exciting activities to our users’ fingertips.

1. What is your role at WAUG?
I’m part of the Global Business team, and I am in charge of building and nurturing partnerships with travel-related companies around the world.
I also create and manage travel products, like activities and tours, that delight our customers.
2. What’s the most exciting part about your role?
As someone who grew up in three different countries, specifically Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Singapore, I have become a person who loves to interact with people from all walks of life. In WAUG, I get to do exactly this and talk to our partners in Singapore, the States, the UK, Australia, and Israel! How awesome is that?
WAUG also gives me the chance to come up and execute ideas that will help our users explore more, whether that’s in their home country or overseas.
3. What’s it like working in your team?
The Global Business team is all about laughter and having fun. We come from different backgrounds, but we all share one thing in common: having respect for each other’s ideas.
My manager gives me numerous opportunities to explore and learn about the travel industry as I come from a totally different work experience.
We would also go out for dinner and have some good amount of soju together quite often.

4. Did you or your team experience any challenges after COVID-19? How did you handle them?
WAUG has a large global footprint, having more than 10,000 local and international products — but mostly international.
Like all companies, COVID-19 has had an impact on our global sales. However, we shifted our focus on domestic activities and are now tapping more partners in F&B and travel.
5. If you could travel right now, where will you go?
I would love to go back to Barcelona, Spain. Last time I went, I spent two unforgettable weeks with the nicest people there. Since then, I’ve always wanted to go back. If ever I get the chance, I would consider living there.

6. Name one WAUG activity that you’d like to try in that destination.
It will have to be the Small Group Bike Tour. Exploring the beautiful city of Barcelona on a bicycle sounds very interesting. When I travel, I usually immerse myself in the city by walking 30-40 km a day, but the bike tour sounds fun. Plus, I get to meet new people from different parts of the world.
7. Which WAUG products will you recommend to foreigners who will visit Korea for the first time?
Although I am Korean, I’ve only lived in Korea for a third of my life. But I know for a fact how my country went through so many hardships in the past, but was able to become one of the most developed countries in the world today. South Korea is an interesting country that many people want to explore, and I would most likely recommend the Seoul Buam-dong Walking Tour. It’s a well-paced activity, and it gives a good glimpse of the old and new Seoul that coexists in this neighborhood.
